The Bullring

Did you know Pamplona’s Bullring is the third biggest one in the world? That its location is not the original one? When and why did bullfighting start in the city?

The bullring is, undoubtedly, one of the musts when visiting Pamplona, although you will not be able to get in unless you come for the festivals in July – the rest of the year is closed, except for certain events.

The running of the bulls ends here – you will be surprised to find how narrow the entrance gate is!  A bust of the Nobel-winning Ernest Hemingway is found at the entrance. It was his world-famous novel “The Sun Also Rises” that made the festivals internationally known! Nonetheless, the arena is located in a street named after him.
