DESCRIPTION Alternatively, instead of the visit to Iranzu's Monastery, we propose the guided visit to the FINCA LA TEJERÍA, where Navarrese fighting
bulls are bred. This breed is characterised by relatively small, bright red coated bulls which are agile, alert, nervous and aggressive as well as very brave. This breed was at the peak of its popularity between the 18th century and mid 19th century. By the mid 20th century it had lost its importance due to the preferences of the new bullfighting style, which favoured bigger bulls that would ram more readily and therefore, presented less complications to the bullfighter.
The visit to Finca La Tejería starts with an introductory explanation of the technical and scientific process involved in the recovery of the Navarrese breed. This is followed by a walk on the countryside where there will be opportunities to get safely close to the free ranging bulls, to feed them and to take part in other routine chores of cattle farming.
